JAKE
DONG

Jake Dong is an 11th-grade student at Sage Hill School in California. He's passionate about sports and economics. Through his nonprofit Radiant Kids, he strives to empower communities and promote health, wellness, and equity.

My Story

At eight years old, he discovered what having butterflies in his stomach meant. He captained his first football game, but although he seemed excited, he was overwhelmed with doubt and anxiety, even struggling to eat the day before. But he had to step up for his team, and throughout the game, he gradually found his confidence and courage. That game marked the first time he found belief in himself and became a leader. This experience planted the seed for his love for sports and the life lessons it teaches.

Now, he applies the resilience and discipline he developed through football on and off the field. Academically, he challenges himself with advanced courses, including multivariable calculus, linear algebra, AP Economics, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, and AP US History. Beyond academics, he founded Radiant Kids, an international health and wellness nonprofit serving K-8 students in the US and China, impacting more than 13 schools and reaching over 300 children worldwide. He is also the quarterback and captain of his varsity football team. His leadership also extends to other areas: he is the founder of the Christian Club,  the secretary of the business competition club, and an economic research intern. Outside these roles, he enjoys blogging about his passions for skiing and hiking.

Looking ahead, he plans to study economics and math and use his education to address systemic inequities in health and wellness. Through his passion for sports and finance, he hopes to empower future generations to lead healthier lives, regardless of their circumstances.
