Robert
ZHOU
Robert Zhou is a driven individual who is passionate not only about learning but also about helping others overcome their limitations. His diverse interests, including debate, DECA, competitive swimming, and more, reflect his commitment to personal growth.
My Story
Robert is a regional-level competitive swimmer, actively participating on both his club and school teams. He believes swimming is an essential life skill that benefits everyone. He dedicates his time each Sunday to teaching neurodiverse children how to swim. Initially, as a 7th grader, he found it challenging to communicate with the children, but through patience and perseverance, he has built strong connections with them. Now, they enjoy their time in the water together like friends. This experience has enriched both Robert's life and the lives of those he teaches.
Robert thrives on the intellectual challenges of debate. After only five debate tournaments, he advanced from the Novice division to earning a state bid. As he continues to grow, Robert plans to broaden his impact by running for a board position on his debate team. His passion for business and finance has also led to his involvement in both DECA and the Wharton Investment Competition, in which he will compete this year.
A message that Robert has come to appreciate is if there is no path forward, make your own. Looking ahead, he aims to take an interdisciplinary approach to economics, including financial economics and game theory, to charter his own course and create the impact he seeks.
